[Civsoc-mw] Was "Noriega" not a Hero?

Practically, Noriega may not be on Nyasanet or on this forum. Colleagues on
this forum know him as sadly, they had to interact with him under those
conditions. It may be helpful for people to get in touch with him (if still
alive) and get to learn whether such a recognition may be acceptable to him.

I read the O'Malley book with a lot of sadness. O'Malley was also a good
man who perhaps out of his goodness did not wish to offend/embarrass
people. He referred, for example to the Principal of Chancellor College
without naming him (all principals at Chanco have been men!); the Head of
Department and others in such terms. What a good man he was! But these
people (some of them ) who danced with and fed the crocodiles are still
among us and we seem to not demand accountability. The naivety that many of
us believe in that it was all Banda and him alone (and his triumvariate)
needed to be unmasked. There seemed to have been many collaborators and
people doing things in the name of the president. How conflicted and
confused we have been was not surprising exemplified when UNIMA awarded
Honorary doctorates to JZU and Prof Peter Mwanza on the same day. What an
ironic day it was!
