CULTURAL CONVERSATIONS ON LOCAL LANGUAGES SERIES NO. 2: THEMANG'ANJA PERSPECTIVES.

 

Tonight at 6PM, series No 2 of the cultural conversations onlocal languages features a renowned Historian *Mr. Puleni Chilikunzako* whowill deliver a lecture on the Mang'anja perspectives towards the Petition onlocal languages that was submitted to Parliament on 6th October 2020.

In this lecture,Mr. Puleni Chilikunzako will do the following:

 

1. Usehistorical evidence to validate the issues raised in the Petition.

2. Argue why theMang'anja who were among the distinct but closely related people thatconstituted the ancient Maravi Kingdom (along side Nyanja, Ntumba, Mbo,Chipeta, Chewa etc), support the cause of the Petition.

3. Demonstratehow some credible historical sources do not support the points raised in thepress statement issued by Chewa Heritage Foundation (CHEFO) on the Petitionthat appeared on page 5 of the Nation newspaper of 7th October 2020.

 

The lecture willstart tonight *Friday the 16th October 2020 from 6 PM-7:30 PM.*
