Some radical Malawians are conscientising civil society to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Dr Mpakati's assassination in 1983 through the Malawi Institute of Journalists radio, MIJ FM.

This will begin with my tribute and appeal to the Malawi nation as a whole,  the civil society,  the public service and the government to put our heads together so that we get Dr Mpakati's remains repatriated and get reburied on Malawi soil. The crucial broadcast is targeted by the MIJ FM for 18:10 tomorrow,  Sunday 25 March 2018

Moves are already underway to contact the Mpakati family in Nguludi, near Blantyre.

Some of us have spent much of this March,  celebrating the life of Dr Mpakati and what he stood for.

Please join us, one and all.

Mzee.

Subject: [NYASANET] Releasing water

Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development has opened up
Shire River at Kamuzu Barrage in Liwonde, Machinga to increase water flow for
Electricity Generation   Company (Egenco)
to boost power generation. The ministry' s Principal Secretary Grey Nyandule
Phiri said in an interview yesterday that on   March
17 2018 a technical committee comprising
government officials, engineers and  hydrologists
recommended increasing the flow of water in Shire River to allow
Egenco  generate
more power to avert the power shortage that the country has experienced lately.

Quite remarkably, the technical committee's recommendation
to increase the flow has seen Egenco increasing power generation to 200
megawatts (MW). This brings the total power generation to 275 MW, about 35MW
shy of the suppressed national requirement.  This increase is more
than what gensets have
brought in.

Why did it
take so long fpr technical committee to meet?
