We are delighted to announce that the 2017 Gerti Hesseling Prize was awarded to Abdul-Gafaru Abdulai of the University of Ghana for his article, co-authored with Sam Hickey, in African Affairs, ‘ <http://oxfordjournals-marketing.oup.com/c/12KvhWIvQ29GwtIHXdvwlwgfEQ> The Politics of Development under Competitive Clientelism: Insights from Ghana’s Education Sector’.
The prize is awarded at each European Conference on African Studies (ECAS) by the Africa-Europe Group for Interdisciplinary Studies (AEGIS) Board to the best contribution to a European African Studies journal by a young African scholar.
