KPD there is nothing magical about 40% or 60% or 200%. These are just
subjective percentages. In fact even if we reached 70% women participation
it would be wrong to part ourselves on the back. That there are more men in
prisons should convince you that men go out to grab, while women generally
expect crumbs to be thrown at them. Amayi is a classic example. She would
default to the women argument when the room got hot. Personally I think she
set a very bad example to all women. She was all over the moon praising an
OPC official, her own worker, for giving her K10m. That was at a public
rally on Salima. The lack of women in the boards is on the rotten system we
have. In many countries people apply to be in the boards. I still cant
understand why the likes of Prof mnthali or mpinganjira or gombwa are not
in boards. In Malawi it depends whom you know and where you come from. It
is a mafia system. I saw kakhobwe for example. He is good bit I font think
he was the creativity. He needs to rest. He gas done his part as SPC, high
commissioner, masaf, privatisation commission etc. I saw more than 10
people interelated being in boards. They have different names. I just hope
none of them dies otherwise you will see board member mourners funeral.
Mark my words. I have seen it before. One CEO died on Dowa. I went there.
And most senior managers in the company were related to the dead CEO. Let's
debate about how people are selected into board. It is a cartel of secrecy.
