Britain was a colony of the Roman Empire for roughly 400 years. Ghana was
Britain's colony for 57 years; Malawi depending on how you count it for
about 75 years: in both cases, one human lifetime. My grandfathers, my
father and his brothers and I have lived longer than the mighty British
Empire where the Sun never set. Change accelerates at Einsteinian
acceleration.. Both my daughters use their hyphenated maiden names in their
marriages. And that's only the first generation.
Change is already here, Ojaji.
Your grand daughters will call you by your first name which even I an oldie
hesitate to do. I'm yesterday's man.
Do you know what they are teaching under the rubric Reproductive Health?
It's not what our mothers and wives learned and practise. Change is
happening right in front of your eyes. 3000 years? Reduce that by a factor
of 100. It's anything between 30 and 50 years when today's teen agers
become adults and heads of household.
