Iwe KBK, don't forget that raising such amounts of Kwayeras was not that
easy during those old days. I remember men would dash to the nearest
mountain or dambo to hide. They would stay there weeks on end till the
notorious and no-nonsense District Messengers, donning mizuli (fez?), would
head back to their base. This other day we were in Ntcheu, near Gowa
Mission, doing field work but traveling in a 110 Land Rover pickup truck,
koma pepani anthu sikuthawa kwake, kusiya zipanda zamowa wamasese.
Seriously, that grown up men would be thrown into such a disgraceful
stampede, dashing to the nearest hiding place, was so dehumanizing in
my humble opinion. I still feel Kamuzu was callous and stupid. That was one
of the reasons why we gallantly fought for multiparty democracy, so the
povo could enjoy their local beer in peace, without expecting unwelcome
visitors from the DC's office to spring an ambush on them. Get the picture
now, KBK?
