This reminds me of “A Man of the People”, a novel by Chinua Achebe. In the novel, Josiah, a shop owner at Waya Market, invites Azoge into his shop.
Azoge is blind.
Then the shop owner attempts to substitute the blind man’s walking stick with a new one. He wants to use the old stick for juju medicine.
Azoge - the blind man - detects substitution, resulting in a scandal at the market.
